Girls' Home - SHIRAT HAYAM
Girls' Home is my chance, the one I didn't get anywhere else.
This is when I started the meaningful process I am in today and this is where I let go of the bad patterns that were part of my life.
(Girls' Home Graduate)
Girls' Home seeks a solution to those girls who do not receive the correct therapeutic response from the current intensive Nirim Program.
These girls face emotional difficulties in regulating themselves. Time and again in short intervals they go from a state of uplifted and empowered mood to a crisis and extreme emotional downfall accompanied by in-adaptive behaviors. The Home is located in the Village, in a separated area. The program is spread across three months providing peace, calmness, inclusion, and therapy based on DBT model.
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Model) is the only therapeutic model to be proven effective in crisis situations among teenagers. We believe that by Improving and enriching the family environment and providing social support and guidance we can make a difference. Our main goal is to rebuild girls' self-esteem and self-image, providing a sense of safety. Our main target is to enable them to get back on track and rejoin their parent frameworks in the village. Should they not get this solution, the girls will be forced to return to the streets and probably continue to deteriorate.
Following a successful pilot, we are ready to build a permanent home that will offer a solution for 20 girls at-risk every year.
